FREE SYSTEM SOFA
Design: Claudio Salocchi, 1973–2023. Salocchi designed Free System in 1973 as an upholstered sofa system based on "operational flooring," inspired by the tatami. Its modules can be freely combined, reimagining a fluid, open sense of space. Corner modules, seats with interchangeable backrests, poufs and tatami elements make up a modular programme. It's capable of endless configurations, from free-form islands to classic linear or corner arrangements. Structure in solid wood and plywood, elastic-strap base; padding in single-density polyurethane foam and polyester wadding, with shaped polyurethane inserts quilted into the seat and back. Completely upholstered, with removable covers, joined by a concealed plastic-clip coupling system.
