Acerbis was founded in 1870 by Benvenuto Acerbis, in Albino near Bergamo. It is one of Italy's most enduring furniture houses, with 150 years of history behind it. In 1963, under Lodovico Acerbis, the brand took its artisan roots international. It began collaborating with some of the era's most influential designers. With Giotto Stoppino came design icons like the Sheraton sideboard, Hilton and Brooklyn. With Lella and Massimo Vignelli came Serenissimo and Lago Dorato, blending austere, graphic-design-inspired lines with ancient artisan techniques like encausto and gold and silver leaf.
Since 2019, Acerbis has been part of MDF Italia, with creative direction led by Francesco Meda and David Lopez Quincoces. In 2020 the brand launched Remasters — archive pieces by legendary designers, reworked for today: the original form stays intact, but each piece is finished in the brand's signature glossy lacquers and a palette inspired by vintage racecars. At the core of Acerbis's philosophy are things made to last — beautiful and high-quality.
