CRESO DINING TABLE
Design: Lella & Massimo Vignelli, 1988–2021. A singular form with a monolith's silhouette, Creso transforms a table into the vigorous geometry that defined the Vignellis' eye. A single pedestal supports a round top, crafted entirely in travertine or combining marble or glass with a base in various metallic finishes. The original 1988 design revived the craft technique of Encaustic art, or "Venetian stucco," where fine sand plaster is coloured in hues inspired by 18th-century painter Francesco Guardi. It earned an Honourable Mention at the 1989 ADI Compasso d'Oro. Top in transparent glass, matt marble (Carrara Statuario, Calacatta gold, Marquinia black, Levanto red, Alpi green) or matt travertine; base in a steel tube, painted gunmetal grey or orbital bronze, or clad in brass-plated steel foil, or single-material travertine.
