SERENISSIMO DINING TABLE
Design: Lella & Massimo Vignelli, David Law, 1985–2021. The precisely delineated Serenissimo renders a table as a graphic composition, with four columns and a linear steel girder floating the tabletop above. Its elemental shapes, defined by the soft tones of Venetian stucco and refined metal finishes, now take on new expression with a marble top — available exclusively with the metal base. The original design revived the craft technique of Encaustic art, or "Venetian stucco," with colours inspired by 18th-century painter Francesco Guardi. Top in transparent, opalescent, cast-glass or lacquered frosted glass, or matt marble (Carrara Statuario, Calacatta gold, Marquinia black, Levanto red, Alpi green); frame in grey painted micaceous metal; four cylindrical bases (Ø28 cm) in painted steel (gunmetal or orbital bronze) or hand-applied Encausto plaster (terracotta, green, white).
