Pulpo

Founded in Germany in 2006 by Ursula and Patrick L'hoste, pulpo describes itself not as a manufacturer but as a "design editor." The brand curates lighting, furniture and accessories from up-and-coming designers and selected manufacturers, rather than dictating designs itself. It was born almost by accident: a designer friend shared an idea for a wall hook, and what started as that single object gradually grew into a full collection. pulpo's guiding philosophy is "carte blanche" — designers and artists are given complete creative freedom to develop their ideas freely and experimentally, with the nature of each material acting as the score the design follows.

Glass has been pulpo's defining focus since 2013, alongside ceramics and stone, all drawing inspiration from the raw, tactile beauty of glassblowing and ceramic workshops. The brand is headquartered in Weil am Rhein, on the German-Swiss border, where its creative and sales teams, warehouse and logistics form a single hub — from which its dealer network reaches as far as Iceland, Dubai and Australia.
