ALTEREGO CABINET
Design: Giacomo Moor, 2016. In his work for Acerbis, Giacomo Moor imbues the high version of Alterego with the mirage of suspension — a marvel of design ingenuity. The full-height sliding door seems, impossibly, to support the whole weight of the piece, which is in fact carried by a transparent methacrylate base. The contrast between wood and hand-brushed metal underlines the handcrafted identity of the sideboard. Alterego comes as a pair — two pieces sharing the same measurements and structure, but with the sliding door positioned asymmetrically on each, making them unique on their own and ideal paired together. Cabinet and hinged doors in dark-stained walnut veneer or matt/glossy lacquer; sliding door in glossy lacquer or a hand-brushed metallic nickel finish; base in transparent methacrylate.
